Internet domain registrar company GoDaddy has announced a deal with International Cricket Council (ICC) to become the official sponsor for the World Test Championship final 2021. By engaging with tournament viewers and cricket enthusiasts through the most loved sport in the country, GoDaddy aims to drive conversations and encourage digital adoption in today’s new normal world.

With this announcement, both sides will continue their affiliation which started from the Men’s Cricket World Cup. The company has been associated with former Indian captain  Mahendra Singh Dhoni as its Indian brand ambassador for over two years, inspiring small business owners to create a website for their business.

Commenting on the partnership, Anurag Dahiya, Chief Commercial Officer ICC, said, “We are excited to renew our partnership with GoDaddy and delighted to see them support the inaugural World Test Championship Final.”

ICC has announced many sponsorship deals in just a few days of time. The governing body recently confirmed a long-term partnership with one of India’s largest investment platforms- Upstox, a deal which was exclusively revealed by Sportsmint in March. ICC also brought Shyam Steel on board as the official partner of the ICC World Test Championship Final. They also confirmed a global sponsorship deal with BharatPe. The deal between BharatPe and ICC will last until 2023.

The World Test Championship has become a cash cow of ICC as it has brought in millions in sponsorship deals. ICC has also announced the prize money for the ongoing WTC final. The winner will receive $1.6 million as well as the ICC Test Championship Mace. The runners-up will receive $800,000. If the final is a draw or a tie, which seems to be a likely outcome as the first session of the test match got washed out because of rain, the teams will split the prize money and share ownership of the Mace.
